Ductless mini-split air conditioners are known for their reliability, durability and excellent performance. However, like other types of heating and cooling equipment, they can still occasionally encounter issues. If you think something’s not right with your air conditioner or it constantly experiences problems, it’s best to have it checked out by a professional.
Here are some troubleshooting tips for common minor problems with ductless mini-splits.
Your AC isn’t cooling your home sufficiently. If it’s been hard to keep your home cool lately, don’t worry–the problem may not be as serious as you think. It could just be that you need to clean or replace your ’s air conditioner’s filter. Clogged or dirty filters will restrict airflow, which can in turn affect your AC’s performance. Avoid this issue by replacing the air filter every one to three months.
Your AC won’t turn on. An air conditioner may not start up for various reasons. There could be issues with your home’s power source, for example, or the problem may be the unit itself. Either way, if your AC refuses to turn on, contact a local technician immediately for a proper diagnosis.
Your AC is leaking water. Like any conventional HVAC system, a ductless mini-split AC will generate condensation as cool air passes through it. Water leaks can occur due to backed-up or clogged condensate lines. One way to avoid this issue is to check your AC’s drain lines regularly. You may also try pouring a little vinegar in them at least once a year to keep them clear. However, if your air conditioner isn’t draining or is leaking from the indoor air handler, you should get in touch with a professional.
